Back in 2014, record sales were at there highest for years, and this year is shaping up to be much the same.
If you’re thinking ‘What? When did this happen?’- Check out this blog on the 2014 record sales boom.
Way back in 2014, streaming had a monumental year, but with this also came the decline of C.D. and cassette (whoooooooo), whilst vinyl surged into the atmosphere, reporting record sales, and increased sales year on year.
In the first three months of 2015, vinyl sales are up 37%, it’s a long way off beating streaming up, but it’s a start. According to Neilson, vinyl album sales have rocketed by 260% in the U.S. since 2009, that’s a whopping percentage, and it doesn’t look like it’s going to stop soon.
Streaming is still number 1 at the moment, and it doesn’t look like it’s going to change for a while, the public are beginning to turn their attention back to physical albums, not a bad thing, eh?
