Mastering

This is an EDM remix of a Hindi film song, with lead vocals and some elements of the original song thrown together into a dynamic and powerful track. The mix that was presented to us was very good so it didn’t take a huge amount to get the overall shape and sound of the track in place, and most of the mastering work was focussed on crafting the ‘drop’ for maximum impact. We worked to get the start of the song and the build0-up clear, present and loud enough, while still leaving enough room for it to step up satisfactorily when the drop hit and the bass, the lead synths and beats came in. We did some strengthening of the low end to get that room-shaking feeling without which it just ain’t EDM.

About the song

Woh Jahaan is a rock ballad from the Hindi film Rock On 2, sung by the film’s stars, Shraddha Kapoor and Farhan Akhtar. This remix was cooked up by Siddharth Mahadevan and DAWgeek, two talented young producers on the Mumbai music scene.
