John Dent has been awarded Mastering Engineer of the Year at the Music Producers Guild Awards 2014.
This is a huge accolade, especially as it is music producers and mastering engineers that vote for the winner, so this is truly the respect of his peers.
We have always said that John is one of the best mastering engineers in the UK (although we prefer the expression 'one of the baddest engineers in the land') so it's nice to have that confirmed by everybody else.
John Dent has been mastering for over 40 years and he's seriously good at it. His experience spans from cutting all the original Bob Marley records for Island Records in the late 1970s to mastering PJ Harvey's recent Mercury Prize-winning album, Let England Shake.
Loud Mastering in Taunton, England, is the brainchild of legendary mastering engineer, John Dent.
Loud is the ultimate old-school mastering studio - the main room is littered with tape machines, outboard gear piled high, speakers, amps and turntables, along with a classic Neumann cutting lathe sitting regally in the corner.
